Cardiovascular Birth Defects By County Per 10,00 Live Births in Tennessee ( 2008-2012)

Today’s map of the day shows the rate of cardiovascular birth defects by county per 10,000 lives birth from 2008 to 2012 in the state of Tennessee.  Birth defects are the leading cause of infant mortality [1] and in 2008-2012 cardiovascular birth defects accounted for 62% of all birth defects in Tennessee [2]. From the map we can see that the lighter shaded areas had a lower rate while the darker shaded areas had a higher rate. We can see counties in the the eastern and western regions had a higher rate compared to counties within the central region.
