Percent Frequent Physical Distress By County, 2015

Today’s map of the day shows the percent of frequent physical distress by county for the year 2015. Data reflects the percentage of adults who reported ≥ 14 days in response to the question, “Thinking about your physical health, which includes physical illness and injury, for how many days during the past 30 days was your physical health not good?” According to the County Health Rankings and Roadmaps frequent physical distress is a corollary measure to poor physical health days. It provides a slightly different picture that emphasizes those who are experiencing more chronic and likely severe physical health issues. From the map we can see a higher percentage of frequent mental distress days among counties within the Southerner states and moderate to high percentages in some Western states compared to counties within the Midwest.
