Percent Frequent Mental Distress By County, 2015

Today’s map of the day shows the percent of frequent mental distress by county for the year 2015. Data reflects the percentage of adults who reported ≥ 14 days in response to the question, “Now, thinking about your mental health, which includes stress, depression, and problems with emotions, for how many days during the past 30 days was your mental health not good?” According to the County Health Rankings and Roadmaps frequent mental distress is a corollary measure to poor mental health days. It provides a slightly different picture that emphasizes those who are experiencing more chronic and likely severe mental health issues. From the map we can see a higher percentage of frequent mental distress days among counties within the Southerner states.
