Percentage of Households Making Less Than $15,000 in 2016

 

This map shows the percentage of American households that receive an annual income of less than $15,000 in 2016 by county. Looking at the map, one can see that there are many counties in the southern states Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas with at least 20% of households making less than $15,000. Southwestern states like Texas, New Mexico, and Nevada also have a large population of households that make less than $15,000. States in northeast and northern Mid-West have fewer households making less than $15,000 per year.
