Today’s map of the day shows the prevalence of HIV by county among individuals aged 13 to 24 years in 2013. From the map, we can see the prevalence is higher in counties within the southern states along the Gulf Coast and southern states, such as Georgia, South and North Carolina indicated by the darker shade. In contrast, we can see eastern and western states have many counties where the HIV rate is lower indicated by the lighter shades. Overall from this map compared to the previous maps showing the HIV prevalence of African Americans, Whites, Hispanics, males and females we can see a small proportion of counties have individuals infected with HIV.
