Decreasing the number of uninsured is a key goal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which extends Medicaid coverage to many low-income individuals in states that have expanded and provides Marketplace subsidies for individuals below 400% of poverty. This map presents distribution of low health insurance coverage for population under 65 years old in 2013 based data from the SAHIE program which models health insurance coverage by combining survey data with population estimates and administrative records.
