Today’s map of the day shows the prevalence of HIV by county among individuals aged 55 years and older in 2013. From the map we can see the prevalence is relatively low in counties within the southern states indicated by the yellow/yellowish shade. In addition, we can see eastern and western states have counties where the HIV rate is also low. In contrast in states such as Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, North and South Carolina we can see some counties have a higher rate of HIV indicated by the orange/darker shades. However, overall we can see the map is predominately yellow indicating the majority of the counties have rates less than 925 per 100,000 person.
