HemoglobinTest LegAmputation

According to data obtained from the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice, the greatest average annual percentage of diabetic Medicare beneficiaries ages 65-75 receiving blood sugar testing tends to be across the Northern United States. This is shown in the first map above. One of the known complications of diabetes is amputation of the leg due to a combination of damaged nerves and poor circulation of the blood. The second map above visually represents the average annual rates of leg amputations amongst Medicare beneficiaries.
